2018 NHS Inducted Students Announced

View this list of Class of 2018 National Honor Society graduates, plus the list includes newly inducted juniors & seniors

 

Solar Wind Celebration

When this year’s Fine Arts students and teachers at Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School were looking for inspiration, they looked to the skies and also down the street. Renowned astrophysicist Dr. Eugene Parker, 92, was until very recently a longtime resident of the community. In the 1950s he developed the theory of the supersonic solar wind and predicted the spiral shape of the solar magnetic field in the outer solar system.

 

Cardiologist to speak at NHS Induction

Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School will welcome a Class of 1994 alumnus, Dr. Jason Robin, MD, back to campus on Monday, April 23. Dr. Robin is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at that evening’s National Honor Society (NHS) 2018 induction ceremony, where more than 100 seniors will receive their honor cords and approximately 140 underclassmen will pledge to become part of NHS.

 

H-F Library to receive state grant

Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School has been awarded a $4,999 grant from the Illinois State Library for the purchase of books at a variety of Lexile levels to support differentiated instruction.​

 

Spring Play: She Kills Monsters

She Kills Monsters, a dramatic comedy written by Qui Nguyen, will close the drama season this school year at Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School, running at 7 p.m. May 3-5 in the school’s Mall Auditorium.

 

H-F Ice Hockey: 2018 Hayes-Suburban League Champions

The H-F Viking Ice Hockey team topped its amazing season by becoming the 2017-18 Hayes-Suburban Hockey League champions on Saturday, March 10! The team defeated Lake Central H.S. in a best of three series with consecutive 3-2 victories. Game 1 was held at the H-F Ice Arena with the winning goal scored by junior Michael Grupp; Game 2 was held at Lake Central with the winning goal scored by junior Nick Hardison.

H-F student-artists earn state awards

At the beginning of February, Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School was one of 13 area high schools that participated in the Southwest Suburban Conference Visual Arts Festival & Competition, held at Governors State University in University Park on Friday, Feb. 2. Students had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers, participate in workshops and judge fellow student artwork.

 

2018 National Merit Finalists Announced

Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School District 233 is proud to announce that three members of its senior class — Allie Mangel of Homewood, Andronicus Marati of Homewood and Alessandro Vazquez of Chicago Heights — have been named finalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program.

 

All-School Test Day 2018

All-School Test Day has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 10. Students will be dismissed at 1:20 p.m., and there will be no early period classes.
