Superintendent

On July 1, 2022, Dr. Scott Wakeley took the leadership reins as Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School District 233 Superintendent.


Prior to joining the H-F administrative team in the 2021-22 school year, Dr. Wakeley completed eight years as superintendent at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School District 307. He also previously served as superintendent at Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 and at Genoa-Kingston Community Unit School District 424. His leadership experiences also include positions as assistant superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction at Evergreen Park School District 124, as well as spending seven years as an administrator at both the elementary and middle-school levels at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202. He has also served as a high school dean of students and as a school psychologist.

Dr. Wakeley earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University, and he earned two degrees from Governors State University: Master of Arts in Education Administration and Master of Science in School Psychology. His bachelor's degree is in Psychology from Olivet Nazarene University.

He has been a speaker at several state and national conferences on leadership and educational change, including in Boston, San Diego, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Dr. Wakeley is passionate about furthering racial literacy, equity, diversity and inclusion. He also has research interests in leading change, incorporating positive psychology.

 • Serves as an adjunct professor in the doctoral program at the University of St. Francis

 

 • Named Administrator of the Year - DeKalb County
