Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School invites the community to its 3rd Annual Pursuing the Dream, a free event dedicated to celebrating Black History and encouraging unity, on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Beginning at 7 p.m. in the school’s Mall Auditorium, the event will feature theme-based performances by the H-F Band, H-F Steppers and members of H-F’s choirs and speech team. This year’s keynote speaker will be Andre Hughes, founder of Powered by Action.
Attendees will also have a chance to hear first-hand accounts from those who have faced cultural barriers, says organizer Broderick Booth, H-F dean of students.
The event was first offered in 2016 with guidance from school counselors and Andre Thomas, Class of 2016 alumnus and Posse Scholar, who currently attends Connecticut College.
