Principal Search Update - November 2016


This is an exciting and special time at Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School, as we are looking forward to selecting a principal candidate who will meet the needs of our school community, who will inspire our students and staff, who will work tirelessly to ensure that all students reach beyond their potential by implementing innovative and results-driven programming, and who will continue to move us forward as a school of excellence. Your input and feedback are essential to ensure that the candidate profile represents the expectations of our community as a whole. Please see the approximate timeline of the search below, which includes opportunities for you to become involved in the process:

  • Nov. 22 & Nov. 28, 2016 - Focus Group Meetings
    Parents and community members are invited to meet with representatives from the search firm, BWP & Associates. Three sessions are available for the general public on Tuesday, Nov. 22: 8-9 a.m. (South Building TLC); 5:30-6:30 p.m. (South Building Room E1); and 7-8 p.m. (South Building TLC). For those who are unable to attend on Nov. 22, an additional drop-in session will be offered from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28 in South Building E1. Please take the time to help us develop the candidate profile by sharing your thoughts and expectations for our next principal. Throughout the day on Nov. 22, BWP will be meeting with groups of teachers, students, staff members and intergovernmental representatives to gather their ideas and expectations, as well.
  • Nov. 21-Dec. 5, 2016 - Online Survey - in English and Spanish
    A survey is posted online and available for everyone to share their opinions and expectations for our new principal. Click link above...
  • Dec. 15, 2016 - Application Deadline
    Completed applications for the principal position will be due by this date. The application can be accessed here.
  • Dec. 19-23, 2016 - Screening Interviews
    Consultants from BWP & Associates will conduct in-person screening interviews with selected candidates.
  • Jan. 17, 2017 - Board of Education Meeting
    BWP & Associates representatives will present an update for the community and Board of Education at the 7:30 p.m. meeting.
  • Week of Jan. 23, 2017 - First-Round Interviews
    Selected candidates will be interviewed on campus by focus groups that will be comprised of students, parents, community members, staff members and administrators.
  • Feb. 2, 2017 - Finalist Interviews
    Finalists will be interviewed by the Board of Education and superintendent.
  • Feb. 21, 2017 - Board of Education Meeting
    The new Homewood-Flossmoor principal will be announced and the Board of Education will vote to approve the contract at its 7:30 p.m. meeting.
