IB vs AP

IB (International Baccalaureate) and AP (Advanced Placement) classes are both advanced high school programs designed to provide students with rigorous coursework that goes beyond the standard high school curriculum. While both IB and AP programs aim to provide students with a more challenging and enriching academic experience, there are some key differences in their structures and philosophies. The IB Diploma Programme is a cohesive course of study known for its international focus, emphasis on a well-rounded education, and the inclusion of the core components (TOK, Extended Essay, CAS). It is a liberal arts pathway, and perfect for a high-achieving student who has a wide range of interests. AP classes are standalone courses and more subject-specific. This allows students to specialize in specific areas and choose individual courses based on their interests and strengths.

Ultimately, the choice between AP and IB depends on the individual student's educational goals and interests. Some students may even choose to participate in both AP and IB courses.
