Research and Analytics

Central to supporting data-driven decision-making, the Assessment Office conducts comprehensive research and analysis. The office is responsible for reporting and analysis that informs stakeholders about student performance on standardized assessments, college readiness benchmarks, and accountability metrics. Through institutional research and analysis, the office identifies trends, evaluates program effectiveness, and provides actionable insights to support district planning and continuous improvement. Using value-added models, the office measures student growth over time, offering a deeper perspective on academic progress beyond proficiency scores. The office also assists with the district’s data warehousing efforts, ensuring that key data points are stored securely, accessible for analysis, and available for strategic planning. Leveraging machine learning techniques, the office develops predictive models that anticipate student needs, support early intervention, and inform resource allocation. These combined efforts enable Homewood-Flossmoor High School to create a more personalized, equitable, and forward-thinking educational experience for all students.  The Assessment Office is also responsible for calculating the student growth component of teacher evaluations under the Performance Evaluation Review Act.
