H-F adds Lead Higher initiative

Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School District 233 was recently accepted into the Lead Higher Initiative, a national effort spearheaded by the non-profit Equal Opportunity Schools, in support of the White House’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative, and supported by the U.S. Department of Education, International Baccalaureate and the College Board. Lead Higher is also backed by generous contributions from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, Tableau and Google.


Living History, Learning Forgiveness

Next Friday, Sept. 23, World History students and teachers at Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School will meet Eva Mozes Kor, a Holocaust survivor, surviving Mengele twin, forgiveness advocate and public speaker. She will present in the school’s Mall Auditorium, beginning at 11:30 a.m., as part of a special forgiveness-themed weekend, sponsored by three South Suburban Jewish congregations.


Two H-F seniors named 2017 National Merit Semifinalists

Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School District is proud to announce that two members of its senior class — Kathryn Donermeyer and Lillian Hamer, both residents of Homewood — have been named semifinalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program. They are two of nearly 16,000 students across the U.S. to receive this honor from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), based in Evanston.​

Thank you to the engaged citizens of the community who participated in the Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233 special board of education meeting on June 30. We know it took great courage to present your point of view and everyone’s voice matters. The Board of Education listened intently to all comments and, as discussed at the meeting, will involve all stakeholders moving forward in the search for a new principal.


Homewood-Flossmoor High School Board Calls Special Meeting

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233 Board of Education will hold a special meeting to listen to parents and other community members who wish to express their views regarding the Board’s decision to terminate Principal Ryan M. Pitcock with one year remaining on his contract. All members of the community are invited to attend.


Special Announcement June 22, 2016

On June 21, 2016, the Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School District 233 Board of Education voted to buy out the employment contract of Principal Dr. Ryan M. Pitcock. Dr. Pitcock had approximately one year remaining on his four-year contract. Per the terms of his contract, he will be paid his salary and benefits through June 30, 2017.
