VIKING DIVING CLUB is a local age group springboard diving club. We offer a program of instruction in springboard diving designed for boys and girls 8 years of age and older. In order for VIKING DIVING CLUB to meet the requirements of the I.H.S.A. and to ensure that the athletes, coaches, and Homewood-Flossmoor High School are protected under our insurance plan, it is necessary that every participant register for membership with VIKING DIVING CLUB. Club membership costs $20.00 on an annual basis. An athlete, through his/her registration fee, automatically receives accident insurance for all supervised practices and sanctioned events. The coverage pays up to $25,000 per accident with a $250 deductible. This insurance is SECONDARY coverage and is underwritten by Mutual of Omaha insurance.

*The WINTER session will be on Mon. and Wed. evenings beginning Wed., January 4, through Mon. February 6.

BEGINNER: This is a class to provide an enjoyable introduction to the sport of diving. Instruction will be offered in the approach, take-off, entry, safety, and basic forward and backward dives on one-meter springboard.

5:30-6:30 PM 10 Classes Fee $100.00/$120.00 Class begins January 4, thru February 6.

INTERMEDIATE: The emphasis at this level is on mechanics, including hurdle, board fundamentals, and expanding the list of dives on the one-meter and the three meter springboards.

6:30-7:30 PM 10 Classes Fee $100.00/$120.00 Class begins January 4 thru February 6.

HIGH SCHOOL: This level is geared to help divers qualify for their high school team and to improve their competitive performance on both one meter and three meter springboards.

7:30-8:30PM 10 Classes Fee $100.00/$120.00 Class begins January 4 thru February 6.

FEES: Beginners, Intermediate, Adv./ High School $100.00 for School District 233 Residents/$120.00 for Non-Residents, payable to VIKING DIVING (plus Club membership fee if not already a member for 2012). In order to ensure manageable class sizes, advanced registration is required.

FACILITY: Classes are held at the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Natatorium, located at 999 Kedzie Avenue, Flossmoor, Illinois. The diving well has two one-meter Maxiflex Model B boards on concrete short stands and one three meter on a DuraFirm stand. The water depth is 14 feet.

INSTRUCTOR: The program is conducted under the direction of three time Illinois High School Diving Coach of the Year, Rick Carlson. Mr. Carlson is the Homewood-Flossmoor diving coach and a member of the Illinois Diving Hall of Fame. Coach Carlson has taught at all levels over the years. His divers have won numerous state and national competitions at the age group, high school, and college levels.
