SWIMMING AND DIVING

VARSITY GIRLS HEAD COACH - TIM CALDWELL

            Head Coach Tim Caldwell swam for the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings under legendary coach Ed Aldridge and graduated from H-F in 1973.  Mr. Caldwell's is now in his 18th season with HFHS as head coach for the girls.  After serving 12 seasons as the boys Head Coach, Mr. Caldwell retired from boys swimming in 1999 to start a boys Water Polo program which meets in the spring.  Mr. Caldwell came to H-F after spending 11 years as Head Coach at Wawasee High School in Syracuse, Indiana.  While in Syracuse, Tim also coached at the age group and the college levels.  As a swimmer at Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois, Mr. Caldwell swam sprint freestyle and the IM.  He was an All Prairie College Conference and School Record Holder while at Eureka.  Mr. Caldwell teaches Physical Education at H-F.  He and his wife, Terri live in Will County with their daughters Jill and Kyle.

HEAD COACH BOYS - KEITH DOMBKOWSKI

            Mr. Dombkowski joined the H-F teaching staff in 2004 as a Physical Education teacher. In addition to being our Boys Head Coach, Mr Dombkowski serves as an assistant golf coach.  Keith is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago where he majored in Physical Education and Athletic Training.

            Keith comes to H-F after spending the past eight years at Brother Rice High School.  During his tenure as Head Coach at Brother Rice, Keith was selected as Sectional Coach of the Year three times in 2000, 2002, and 2004.  

ASSISTANT GIRLS COACH - COLLEEN GORMAN

            Ms. Gorman was an H-F graduate in 2001.  She attended University of Illinois graduating in 2005 with a BA degree in Philosophy and minors in Spanish and Sociology.   Colleen currently attends Law School at John Marshall.

DIVING COACH - RICK CARLSON

            Mr. Carlson has served 20 years as the boys' and 13 years as the girls' diving coach at H-F.  As a youth, Carlson competed in both swimming and diving.  He competed for George Williams College, where in 1966 he earned B.S. degrees in Health Education and Physical Education.   Over a period of the last 40 years, Rick's programs have produced over 65 divers who have qualified for the IHSA State Championship, 30 state finalists, 5 State Champions, and 8 High School All Americans.  Several of his divers have gone on to distinguish themselves in college, the NCAA Championships and the Olympic Trials.  Carlson, a member of the Professional Diving Coaches Association and the Illinois Swimming Coaches Association, was elected to the Illinois Diving Hall of Fame in 1990 and was selected Illinois Diving Coach of the Year in 1988, 1996, and again in 1997. 

            Carlson is a real estate executive with his own commercial real estate company.  He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Glenwood School in Glenwood, Illinois.  Rick and his wife, Diane, have three children and have lived in Flossmoor for 35 years.
