Miscellaneous Information for Parents, Athletes &
the H-F Community
If you have any
questions or concerns, please email or contact Joe Skowronski at
jskowronski@hf233.org
or 708-335-5523.
Chain of Command: Any time parents of athletes may have issues or concerns with a coach
regarding anything from playing time to discipline to other related matters, we
ask that if they wish to express their concerns that they go through what we
call the Chain of Command. If and when a parent wishes to vent or
express their concerns, we ask that they begin first with the Head Coach of
that level. Then, if their concerns are not satisfied, they go to the
Head Varsity Coach. If they wish to continue, then they can go to the
Director of Athletics. Hopefully, the matter will be settled before it needs to
go to the Principal.
Requirements Parents and Athletes Should Possess Before the Beginning of Season:
1.
Parent Consent Form
-
Contains personal information (address, phone, emergency contacts, …)
-
In
cases of emergency, Consent Form also acts as a medical release form
giving permission to the tending physician, if parents cannot be
contacted.
-
Signed form must be turned in prior to 1st day of practice.
2.
Physical Exams
-
Due first day of practice.
-
Forms are only valid for one year; do not overextend exam date.
-
Freshmen forms are kept in Nurse’s Office
3.
Training Rules (Athletic Code of Conduct)
-
Mandatory for all in-season athletes and parents to sign form
-
There are four scheduled meetings during the school year.
-
Meetings are primarily for Transfer Students, Freshman, and/or any
student and parent that did not attend the previous presentation.
4.
User Fee
-
$50 per season.
-
Fee is not necessary for the 3rd sport in one school
year.
-
If the student is on the free school lunch program, user fee is waived.
-
Managers, student athletic trainers, stats – do not pay.
-
Fees are paid in the Athletic Office only – do not give money to
coaches.
ATHLETES
WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN UNTIL ALL THE PROCEEDING REQUIREMENTS HAVE
BEEN SATISFIED.
Athletic Trainers
We have two
nationally certified and state licensed Athletic Trainers on staff. If your
child has seen a physician, for any reason, from a runny nose to a hang nail to
an actual injury, THEY CANNOT RE-ENTER PRACTICE/COMPETITION UNLESS THEY HAVE
DOCUMENTED CLEARANCE FROM THAT PHYSICIAN ALLOWING THEM TO PARTICIPATE. PARENTAL CLEARANCE IS NOT ACCEPTED. These notes need to be emailed, faxed
or handed directly to the Athletic Trainers or Athletic Director.

Post-Season
Equipment Turn In
At the conclusion of each season, each participant is expected to
attend a pre-arranged meeting date with their coaches for equipment turn in.
Also on this date, each participant is expected to take all of their remaining
personal items out of their locker. If for some reason you cannot attend the
date, please make arrangements with team mates, a coach, parents, or other
personnel to empty your locker. If you fail to attend, your personal items will
be bagged and set aside. Again, please make arrangements with the coaches to
pick up your personal items.
Day
of Competition
You must be in attendance in school for at least a half day in
order to be considered eligible to compete that day.
Transfer Students
All transfer students and Freshmen who did not attend one of our feeder
schools, must go through a formal interview with the Athletic Department before
being considered eligible to participate. There are stringent IHSA procedures
that must be satisfied.
