Open to: Juniors and Seniors

Summary:  This course is designed for students interested in enfineering or engineering technology.  It is a lab-oriented course that mixes electrical/electronic theory, mathematics and practical engineering related problems.  A final challenge is given that requires students to integrate all previous lab activity into a final working project.  Students are also required to enter a science/technology scholarship competition of their choice and do research. 

III Course Goals
1.  Use inquiry, reasoning and critical thinking skills to assess and analyze physical phenomena.
2.  Understand and apply the sceintific process skills to answer questions and solve problems within a physical context.
3.  Use collaborative groups to conduct scientific investigations, share ideas, and present research   findings. 
4.  Identify, understand, and appreciate the connection between physical concepts, phenomena, and applications within the everyday universe.
5.  Provide opportunities for students to utilize educational institutions, programs, and technologies

            I.          Electrical Engineering - advanced DC circuits

            II.          Alternative Energy - solar energy

            III.         Mechanical Engineering - trebuchet

            IV.        Cardboard Canoe

            Major Assessments: canoe project and unit tests and quizzes
