COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prerequisite: Sophomore PE
Open to: Juniors and Seniors Length:
Semester Credit: .5
Summary: Team Games and Sports Skills provides an
opportunity for physical education students to participate in a
variety of games within a team setting. Students will improve
their individual skills specific to each activity and will be
presented with new strategies that will enhance their game and
tournament play. This class is open to all juniors and seniors
and may be repeated during those years.
III.
TEXTBOOKS and MATERIALS
Each student must come to class daily in his/her own physical
education suit, marked clearly with his/her name. Athletic
footwear is also required. Sweatshirts and sweatpants are
optional for colder days and must be gray, red, black or white
absolutely no jeans are acceptable under physical education
uniforms. Students must have a folder for the first two days of
each new unit study guides will be distributed and also
available on the web for tests.

ABBREVIATED COURSE OUTLINE
First Semester activities: Lacrosse, Football, Soccer
and Volleyball/Basketball/Ice Games& Classroom Work
Second Semester activities: Basketball, Floor Hockey,
Team Handball & Softball/ Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer and Classroom

GRADING
Philosophy
Student's grades will depend on dress, participation,
attendance, tests and classroom work. Fitness will also be
emphasized and students will be graded on knowledge of fitness
principles.
Students should work at their own skill level, with improvement
being the ultimate goal. Attitude and effort is very important.
Teamwork and good sportsmanship should be demonstrated at all

Criteria and Scale
Quarter grades are determined as follows: Parents you can

Written Evaluation 50%
Dress/ Participation/ attendance 50%

A WORD FROM THE INSTRUCTOR
Absences and Make-ups:
Absences from school/class will affect the student's grade.
Any student not in class for any reason is considered to be
absent. A make-up for physical education will consist of a
minimum of 45 minutes of working out to make up one absence.
Students may do this at home to make up a maximum of two
absences, with a verification note from a parent. After two home
sessions, make-ups must be done at school opportunities are
listed in the parent-student handbook.
Students have only 1 week to make up an excused absence from
the day the student
returns to school. If a student fails to turn in make-up
absence this will result in a loss of points for their grade.
(Absences from school/ class will affect students grades any
student not in class for any reason is considered to be absent).
Please remember the student only gets 1 week to make up any
excused absence from the time they return to school.)
VII. CLASSROOM
Students
will take part in six classroom lessons based on the Foundations
of Personal Fitness textbook. All work will be completed in
class. If a student is absent, he/she is responsible to check
out a book from the textbook center to co9mplete any make-up
work.
VIII.
Participation grades
Students will receive points each day based upon their
participation in the daily activity. If students are not dressed
they receive a 0 for the day for participation with no make up.
If the student is absent for the day they also receive a 0 for
participation with the option to make up the day by a 45 minute
work-out.
Participation, Attendance and Dress are very important and
highly encouraged!
