III Course Goals
This course provides the student with opportunities to acquire knowledge and
information concerning the relationship of health to himself, his family, and
community. Health education at Homewood-Flossmoor High School is concerned with
the ways and means of influencing positive changes in health related behaviors;
enabling the student to act in ways which will provide optimum quality of life.
Based upon this class being designated with a Honors/College Prep distinction,
students will be expected to complete projects, explore concepts with greater
breadth, and work at a greater pace than core classes. Throughout the learning
process additional resources will be made available to students in the
classroom. I will be working to provide each student with every opportunity to
gain the most from this classroom experience.
IV Textbooks and Materials
Students will obtain a copy of Glencoe Health-A Guide to Wellness from the
textbook center. Each student is expected and required to bring BOTH a pencil
and blue or black pen, purchase/bring a spiral notebook or binder/folder for use
on a daily basis.

2- Nutrition/Consumer Health, Unit 3 Mental Health, Unit 4- Stress Management,
Unit 5- Coping with Death/Suicide, Unit 6- Safe and Healthy Environment, Unit 7-
Alcohol and Tobacco, Unit 8- Drugs and Addiction, Unit 9-Infectious/Sexually
Transmitted Diseases/AIDS, Unit 10-Non-Infectious Disease, Unit 11 Relationships
and Sexuality
