(January 2008) Four H-F students qualified to participate in this year’s All-State Music Festival sponsored by the Illinois Music Educators Association from January 30 to February 2 at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria. The students and the level they qualified in include Steven Sifner, Honors Chorus; Brandon Carey, Future Music Educator; and Stuart Graham and David Kim, Orchestra. 2004-2005 Michael Rogers is a member of the Illinois Music Educators Association state Research Committee. Randall Moore won two first place awards in the Illinois Music Educators Association Secondary General Music Division's annual music composition contest. One award was for best Vocal Ensemble Division composition, the other for best Arranging Division composition. For the second consecutive year (and the second year of the award), we have had a student accepted for All State as a future music educator in the Illinois Music Educators Association mentoring program. Last year, the first year of the program, Bob Mecozzi participated (he is now a music education major at the University of Illinois), and this year Michael White will participate as a senior. Only about 35 students are selected statewide for this award. We have the following students participating in the All State music festival in Peoria this month: for Honors Choir - Torrey Douse, Patrick Murray, Samuel Siner, Domini Velissaris; for Orchestra - James Pan, Sara Norris, and Christopher Sitton.
The following students
were named outstanding soloists at regional jazz festivals: Return to H-F Music Home Page
