2009-2010

(March 2010) H-F received its 17th in a row Bright Red Apple Award for educational excellence! SchoolSearch chose H-F as one of only 83 Illinois School Districts out of 869 districts for the award.

(Feb. 2010) H-F was recognized in the Illinois State Board of Education Weekly Message from State Superintendent Koch on Feb. 16.

(Feb. 2010) H-F was recognized in the College Board's annual AP report to the nation as the public school with the largest number of African American students from the class of 2009 scoring 3 or higher in AP Psychology. We were showcased in the February edition of the College Board's newsletter, "Connection."

(Aug. 2009) Congratulations to Gail Smith, Assist. Director of Athletics and Student Activities, for successfully completing the rigorous process to earn the title of "Certified Athletic Administrator."

(May 2009) H-Fs “Motivate Achieve Push/Pull to Success” (MAPPS) teachers, Sahar Kayyal, English; Paul Fasse, Math; Stephen Banasiak, Science; and Carl Coates, Social Science were honored Wed. May 13 by the South Suburban Illinois Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (SSIASCD) with a Shared Leadership Fostering School Improvement Team Award. Well deserving of this honor, the MAPPS 2009 teacher team has collaboratively worked with a cadre of students over the past four years, challenging them along the way to successfully complete honors and Advanced Placement courses, while assisting them in meeting H-F’s rigorous graduation requirements.


2006-2007

(April 2007) Athletic Director Joseph Skowronski has been given the honor to serve for the next three years on the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Track & Field Advisory Committee.
