Java AB Subset
Those outstanding students who would like to go above and beyond the required course curriculum in AP Computer Science now have the opportunity to learn advanced topics in Java. This endeavor requires a significant amount of extra work and independent study, but it will be immensely rewarding for the student. This supplementary course work will prepare the student for the AP Computer Science AB Exam in Java, as opposed to the AP Computer Science A Exam in Java. This superb achievement will add to any student's college application.
The resources found on this page, prepared by Sam Siner and Nick Camilli in 2005, will aid any student taking on this considerable task. The student should finish the A curriculum (up through Unit 9) at latest by the end of January in order to be adequately prepared for the exam. The AB subset requires coverage of Units 11-15, on a wonderful variety of data structures, from Linked Lists to Binary Search Trees to Sets and Maps. The student should complete the AB subset by the end of April; he or she should also have done the Marine Biology Case Study (Unit 10) by that time.
