Multiplication and Division

The Rules for Multiplying Fractions (x) :

  1. Multiply the numerators.
  2. Multiply the denominators.
  3. Simplify!

When multiplying you would:

Ex. 3/2 x 1/2 = (3 x 1) / (2 x 2) = 3/4!

*Don't forget to reduce your fractions!

When dividing you would:

Flip the second fraction, which is the reciprical of the fraction, and multiply it by the first fraction!

Ex. (3/2) ÷ (1/4) = 3/2 x 4/1 = (3 x 4) / (2 x 1) = 12/2 , common divisor of 2, 12/2 = 6.
