COURSE DESCRIPTION

Summary: Students learn aspects of yearbook design and production. These aspects
include, but are not limited to, publication design, photojournalism, written
journalism, and teamwork. Students are assigned to create a certain number of
page layouts for which they will collect/take photographs, conduct interviews,
write captions and stories, and organize the overall page spread. Students are
expected to make edits and produce high quality work by pre-set deadlines.
Students learn skills in using software such as Adobe InDesign and Adobe
Photoshop and in using equipment such as manual/automatic digital cameras.
Leadership opportunities are available. Students have the opportunity to attend
Summer Yearbook Camp as well as various yearbook workshops. Class work time will
be required outside of the regular class period. Teacher consent, through
interview, is required to take this class. This class may be repeated for
credit.

HOMEWORK Because we are producing an actual
publication, it is imperative that students adhere to due dates. Late work
causes a delay the affects the work of others. Work will be accepted for full
credit for excused absences only. After one day late, student receives
half-credit.
