V. HOMEWORK
This class will involve time outside of class. There will be homework in
this class nearly every night. Homework in this class will be used to improve
knowledge and skill in photography. It will also be used to establish and
nurture a knowledge of this history of photography and its relavance as an art
form. Homework is always due at the BEGINNING of each class period. Late work
will not be accepted.
VI.
This course is centered around the creation of a body of related work from each
student in the class. Because each body of work will differ greatly depending
on the students style and choice of technique, this class is largely
independent. This means you must start and stay motivated throughout the year.
You will be required to log work daily, and the end of each week, turn in
progress reports that will be assessed by the instructor. These progress logs
will be provided by the instructor. You will be assigned points based on these
progress reports along with the tangible work that you produce. Instead of
specific assignments, your rubrics for this class will consist of assignment
prompts. You will have to incorporate your style into each assignment in order
to produce work that will work in you portfolio, as well as stand on its own. As
in Photo II, Art history will play a major role in this class.
The following supplies are required for this course. You will be given points
for having all of your supplies. You will also be given points on a weekly
basis for bringing required supplies to class. Failure to bring supplies will
result in a loss of points.
35 mm Single Lens Reflex Camera and/or digital camera
3 ring binder
3 folders that are three hole punched. 1 red, 1 blue, 1 green
Lined filler paper for 3 ring binder
Clear 8 ½ x 11 page protector sheets
The following required supplies are available at the school bookstore.
note to parents / guardians: While most of these supplies can be
obtained at any camera store (Marlin Camera, Wolf Camera or Helix), it is
cheaper to purchase them from the H-F bookstore.
Negative Sheets (number will depend on student production/ can be purchased as
needed from bookstore)
(if using film)
2 - 35 mm film cartridges (film is provided by school and is bulk loaded into
these cartridges) (if using film)
1 box 5 x 7 b&w photo paper or photo printer paper if working digitally
For your convenience, lockers and locks in G5 will be provided for you to keep
your photo supplies in.
Lockers
You will be assigned a locker and a locker partner. You may keep your photo
paper, camera and any other darkroom supplies in these lockers. For this reason,
you may not, under any circumstances, share your locker combination with anyone.
If it is found that you have shared your combination information with anyone who
is not your locker partner, you will have your G5 locker privileges taken away.
Also, keep in mind that there is limited space in these lockers. Keep your
belongings limited to Photography supplies only.
Computers
If you are working digitally, you will be working on computers in this class.
The computers in G5 are for work assigned in Photography only. If you are caught
working on assignments from other classes, playing games or using the internet
for anything other than assigned work, you will have your computer privileges
suspended and receive an hour long detention.
Procedures for turning in assignments
When turning in written assignments and worksheets, you must use the
following procedure to receive full credit.
When turning in written work or journal work, please be sure your name is on the
top of the first page and all pages are stapled together. Place your assignment
in the plastic drawer labeled with your class period.
Late homework will not be accepted for full credit.

minute after school detention for each detention.
After school lab
This class may required time outside of class. There will be a weekly after
school lab every Thursday, unless students are otherwise notified during class.
These labs operate on a first come, first serve basis. Students must sign up for
the enlargers upon entering G5 after school. Students must bring photography
work with them. Please do not bring friends to after school lab. The same
darkroom rules apply to after school lab.
Grading Policy
Grades are derived on a point basis. Points are assigned for supplies, progress
checks, worksheet, projects, papers, tests, etc. At the end of each grading
period, all points are added up and computed as follows:
100 - 90 % A
89 -80 % B
79 - 70 % C
69 - 60 % D
59 - 0 % F
Each quarter counts as 2/5 of the semester grade; the final counts for 1/5. All
students will take all final exams regardless of quarter grades. Seniors are
exempt from the second semester final if they have a C or better with their
combined quarter grades.
Please note that there are several extra credit opportunities given throughout
the year. If you feel your grades is not as high as you would like, please take
advantage of these extra credit assignments.
(Parents and students: please
consult individual teachers for grading policies, extra credit info, class
procedures, etc.)
