COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prerequisite: None
Level: Honors
Open to: Fr-Sr
Length: 1 year credit: one credit.
Summary
With the advancement of digital filmmaking tools and thus the drop in
technology costs, digital
filmmaking is becoming a standard in many fine arts programs in elementary
and secondary schools.
Students will study vocabulary, technique, and history to give them the
tools to understand and
evaluate films. Essay writing focuses on the analysis of existing films.
Students complement their
understanding of film with hands-on experiences in the production of
several films including scripting,
organizing crews, scheduling locations, procuring talent, coordinating
schedules with equipment
availability, directing talent, lighting, moving props, instructing
technical crew, and editing. Students
will have the opportunity to use equipment of the industry, take on a
variety of roles (director, actor,
