Student Gallery of Computer Art - Spring 00

Students enrolled in Computer Graphics class and Electronic Art class have created artwork on the computer. Using drawing and painting tools, students use the art concepts that they have learned in class to create some very interesting imagery.

Reception for the Artists: Thursday, May 11, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. Conference Room/South

The following are works from the show

(If you click on the small preview graphic, you will get a larger version of the artwork.)

This work was created by Earl Coleman. Earl scanned some leaves and other objects. He imported them into a painting program, cropped the image tightly, and repeated and flipped the scanned images. Filtering was added to saturate the colors.

Erin Kraus created this parady of a famous painting by eliminating the book and adding the gameboy to create a humorous juxtaposition of old and new. The manipulation was done using Photoshop. Light rays were added to draw the viewer's eye to the gamboy.

This landscape painting was created by Erin Kraus. Erin used several photographic images as resources for this painting that was done with the brushes in Photoshop. Erin created this painting in three spatial layers (foreground, middleground, and background), to control the composition.

In this piece, Adam Freidlander scanned plants, bark and leaves. Using ColorIt, he manipulated the colors and textures of the image, and then cropped the image. He then copied and flipped the image several times to create this design.

Jesse Meyer created this repeated design by first scanning a little plastic toy. By repeating and carefully positioning the fish (underlapping and overlapping), Jesse was able to exaggerate the depth in this image. A hand-painted and manipulated background adds contrast to the image and reinforces the depth.

This image was created by Juan Stroop. A toy gecko was scanned and imported into Photoshop. The image was repeated, resized, and colorized for variations. Positions were controlled in layers. A scanned leaf was added and repeated to create depth. Drop shadows were added to further break up the space and reinforce the depth.

Juan Stroop created this painting by observing a real shell carefully. Juan exaggerated the colors that existed in the found shell. Adding a gradient blend and a shadow to the background, Juan created a soft, painterly effect.

This work was created by Jeff Kowalski by scanning found objects from nature. A feather and various plant shapes were carefully arranged so that all parts would connect when the image was repeated and flipped. Filters were added to exaggerate contrast.
