History:
Homewood-Flossmoor High
School opened its door in 1959 welcoming a fresh, new generation to
explore its halls. That same year, the Voyager began publishing
bimonthly issues. The Voyager is as old as H-F itself and is the
oldest media outlet at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The Voyager
is comprised of a staff of hardworking and dedicated student editors,
writers, and a faculty adviser. The staff members of the Voyager
strive to deliver the school and the community the very best in local,
national, and international news. Through various awards and
recognition, the Voyager has been recognized locally and
nationally as an outstanding success. The Voyager improves each
year. In its beginning, the paper reflected the traditional high school
newspapers of the times—tabloid, glossy white paper, four pages in
length. Throughout the years, the newspaper has come to pattern itself
after a professional publication. Today it is 20 pages,
computer-generated, printed on tabloid-size newsprint, and published 11
times per school year!
