Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School will present a children’s play, Lizzie Bright & the Buckminster Boy, April 30-May 2.
Turner Buckminster III is the new kid in town: he plays baseball differently and he stumbles upon trouble at every step. Turner’s only friend is Lizzie Bright Griffin from Malaga Island, an impoverished community founded by former slaves. The town disapproves of their friendship, but Turner and Lizzie remain friends. When powerful forces threaten Lizzie and her family, Turner faces the ultimate test and learns a hard-earned lesson about courage and loss. According to Director J.R. Rose, H-F English teacher, this show is designed for Grades 5 and up.
Performances are scheduled for Thursday, April 30 – Saturday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the school's Mall Auditorium. Tickets ($8/adult, $5/student/child/senior) are available now at the school's Campus Store and will also be available at the door. Student directors are Micaela Davis, Malina Wordlaw and Sydney DuBose.
