Where can I find a school supply list for my student?

A: Students will be informed by each teacher individually during the first few days of classes about what supplies they will need for the class. Pre-printed school supply lists are not available.

Is my address in your district?

To find out if your address resides in District 233, first you can consult our Boundary Map. Check under District Info — Campus Map/Boundary Map to download a pdf of our district. Next, you can call 708-799-3000 and ask for our Transportation Office to confirm.

I live out of district. Can I pay tuition so my student can attend H-F?

Sorry, only in-district residents can attend H-F. We do not accept tuition. For more residency quesions, please contact our Assistant Principal's Office at 708-335-5594.

Can I register a student for school even if I am not the student's legal guardian ?

No.  By law, only a parent or legal guardian can register a student.

Where do I access the parent portal to PowerSchool?

I am a student. Why can't I log in to PowerSchool from home?

In order to log into PowerSchool from somewhere other than HF's campus, you must first log into a computer on the HF network at HF.  The first time you do this, the computer systems will establish your account on PowerSchool.  This must be done at the start of every school year.

How do I get my password for PowerSchool?

As a student, your password for PowerSchool is identical to the password you use to log into computers on HF's campus.

As a parent/guardian, please look for a letter that is mailed home near the beginning of the school year.  The letter will contain instructions on setting up your account.  If you already have an account and forgot your password, please contact Computer Services either in person or by phone at 708-799-3000 x5750.

How do I check my grades?

Where can I find the teachers' web page?

Click on the directory link at the top of HF's homepage.  From there, find and select your teacher.  You will be brought to an information page about that teacher, which will contain link(s) to that teacher's web page(s).

I am a student. How do I reset my password for computer use at HF?

Please visit the Computer Services office area in the T-building from 7:30 am to 4 pm daily and remember to bring your HF ID card.  Please do not visit during your scheduled class time.

I am having trouble connecting to the PowerSchool iPad/iPhone app.

When at the login screen, click on the "Settings" button.  Go to the server settings, and set the server to be parent.hfhighschool.org and set the port to 80.

I am having trouble accessing a document that my teacher shared with me. What should I do?

As a student, be sure that you first log into your student gmail account here.  Be sure to use your full email address (@student.hf233.org) when logging in.

After you are logged into your gmail account, try accessing the document again.

If you cannot log into your gmail account, please contact Computer Services for assistance.

If you can log into your gmail account but still cannot access the document, please speak with your teacher.

I forgot my password to an account. What systems can Computer Services help with?

Computer Services can help you access your account in only the systems that we can control.  This includes your Windows network password, PowerSchool, and your gmail account.

If you are using accounts in other places (e.g., Twitter.com) please check with those services as to how you can recover your account.  Typically websites will offer a "forgot your password?" option.

Can I share my password to my account?

No.  Never share your password to your computer account with anyone.  You are fully responsible for any action that takes place within your account, so your password should never be shared with anyone.

Please protect your password by changing and updating your password frequently.

I have sent an email but haven't received a response. What should I do?

  1. Check your spam folder.  Often times a response to your initial email may be found there.
  2. Try a second contact via email.  It is also possible that your sent message landed in a spam folder.  Although employees do check spam folders on a regular basis, the volume of email that is received might cause your message to be lost.
  3. If you are using the HF Website to initiate an email to a staff member, be sure that your email address is spelled properly.  If it is incorrect, a response to your email will be lost.
  4. If all else fails try calling your contact via regular phone.

How do I log into my Google / Gmail / HF email account?

Please visit http://accounts.google.com to log in with your student gmail address.  Be sure to type in your complete address, which will be your USERNAME@student.hf233.org.

I am a student. How do I retrieve my school email / Google / Gmail account information?

Please visit Computer Services in the T-building with your student ID card.  We will help you retrieve and access a lost student account ending in @student.hf233.org.

As a student, when can I stop by Computer Services to get help with a problem?

Computer Services personnel are available to help students directly between the hours of 7:30 am and 4 pm on regular school attendance days.

What are the hours of the Campus Store?

The Campus Store is open for students and parents on school days from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 2:30-4 p.m. It is located in the South Building Cafeteria.

What are PLC days?

PLC (Professional Learning Community) are days at H-F when teachers meet for professional growth and training from each other on Fridays during first period. No first period classes are held on PLC days. You can view which Fridays are PLC days on the School Calendar (under District Info) or on the website's Events Calendar.

How can my student obtain a parking permit?

Parking permits are issued through the Deans' Office. For details on obtaining a permit, click "Parking" under "Resources" on this website.

How would i confirm that I am indeed registered pass/fail for a class? All paperwork was turned but I don't see it listed anywhere on midterms or Powerschool.

Please contact your student's Guidance Counselor for information concerning course credit and type.

What number do I call to report a child's absence?

Please call HF's switchboard at 708-799-3000.  If you are calling during normal business hours the operator will connect you with the attendance office.  If you are calling off-hours the attendance office and information will be prompt #4.

Athletic

Is the outdoor track at the H-F Stadium open to the public?

The OUTDOOR TRACK at H-F Stadium is open year-round, weather permitting from dawn until dusk, as long as there are no H-F athletic teams practicing or playing. Please no food, gum, sunflower seeds or ball playing on the track. Also, no dogs are permitted on campus.

Are there open swim times available in the school's pool?

Yes, $1 open swim is available on Sundays 5-7 p.m., beginning Oct. 20, in the Natatorium.

Guidance

How do I obtain a transcript?

Transcipts are obtained through our Registrar, located in the Guidance Office. Once you fill out a request form (available under Departments - Guidance - Transcripts), you can send in or bring in the form to recieve your transcipts. Transcipts are not sent directly to colleges or university, but can be released to former students and parents directly. The Registrar can be reached at 708-335-5611.

How many absences can you have before being dropped from e-period

Per the Homewood-Flossmoor Parent-Student Handbook (p.36):

Due to the elective nature of the first and eighth hour class periods, there is a restriction on the number of absences a student will be allowed to receive.  Students who are absent (excused or unexcused) 10 (ten) times per semester wil be dropped from the class.  In addition, any tardy over 5 minutes will be regarded as an absence.
