Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School District 233 has announced a new varsity Boys' Basketball coach for the 2014-15 season. Marc Condotti — currently a teacher in H-F's Physical Education, Health & Driver Education department — will step up to coach the varsity team, after having led the sophomore team for seven seasons. Prior to acting as the sophomore head coach, Condotti worked as an assistant coach for the sophomore team for one season and as an assistant coach for the freshman team for three seasons.
"Marc has the drive and passion to help our student-athletes succeed both on and off the floor," says Dan Vosnos, H-F's director of Athletics & Activities. "Having already been on staff for 11 years, Marc understands our student-athletes and has already built strong relationships with many of them. I have no doubt that he will lead with a high level of integrity — while at the same time — having the desire to be the very best."
Condotti, a Lyons Township High School graduate and basketball alumnus, holds a bachelor's degree
in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University, a master's degree in Education - School Improvement & Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, and a master's degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University. He joined H-F in fall 2003; he currently resides in Western Springs. As head coach, he will replace Jim McLaughlin, who stepped down from the coaching position in June.
"I have had a great mentor and friend in Jim McLaughlin, and I hope to build upon his legacy," says Condotti. "I'm looking forward to working with a solid core of returning upperclassmen and developing the young talent we have in our program."
Condotti says building relationships with the greater Homewood-Flossmoor community and feeder basketball programs is also a goal for next season.
"We want to be as visible and active in the Homewood-Flossmoor community as possible to ensure that, as a program,we are demonstrating the same support we have always received from them," he says.
Condotti's name is familiar to many H-F Viking basketball fans, as his father, Roy Condotti, was the team's head coach from 1995-2005.
