Tri-M Music Honor Society
This is an international music honor society for secondary school students that motivates and recognizes musical achievement and service. Tri-M was originally founded in 1936 at Maine Township High School in Park Ridge by Alexander & Francis Harley under the name "Maine Music Masters". In 1952, the Harleys developed the idea into an international organization and renamed it the "Modern Music Masters". To become a member, you must meet the following:
Be enrolled in a music performance class the entire school year
Be a junior or senior student
Have a 3.0 GPA overall for four semesters
Have a 4.0 GPA in your music performance class
Members are required to do 10 hours of community service in the area of music each year. Service includes acting as a door monitor/usher for music department events, community outreach and tutoring.
