Friends of Rachel
This group was formed after a presentation called Rachel's Challenge. In 2010, our club was recognized as the high school of the year by the national Friends of Rachel organization. The club is based on an essay entitled My Ethics, My Codes of Life written by Rachel Joy Scott, the first student killed at Columbine High School on April 20,1999. Rachel's message was one of kindness and compassion towards everyone. Rachel's life has inspired students at H-F to begin a Friends of Rachel chapter. This group focuses on empowering youth to be positive role models not only with their friends and in school, but also in the community. Students participate in activities that keep Rachel's hope alive for a better world so that no child is left behind because of fear and violence in their school.
