PSAE Exam Information

The Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE) is a required assessment for all public high schools in Illinois.  It is administered to students during April of 11th grade. The 2013 PSAE will be given to 11th graders at Homewood-Flossmoor High School on April 23 & 24.

The PSAE is a 2-day exam. Day 1 is a full, college reportable ACT.  Day 2 of the PSAE is the Work Keys Exam, which is a job skills assessment.  Illinois creates a scale score from these two exams, and those scores are used to determine whether or not the school is making Adequate Yearly Progress under the No Child Left Behind Act.  Aside from the AYP implications, HF uses the PSAE Day 1 as part of the EPAS system.

In order to meet or exceed the standards on the PSAE, students generally need earn a score of 20 or better on the ACT and 5 or better on the work keys.  ACT's College Readiness Standards articulate the knowledge and skills needed.  You may find more information by clicking the link below and reading about the standards and ideas for progress at different score levels.
