5th Annual Careers in STEM Night


The H-F Gifted Committee will present the 5th Annual Careers in STEM Night on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 6:30-8:15 p.m. Find out what it takes to launch a successful career in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics! The evening will begin in the South Building Room E1 with a keynote presentation by Dr. Peter Doran, professor of Geology & Geophysics at Louisiana State University and principal investigator for the National Science Foundation. The speaker will be followed by two breakout sessions, featuring the following professionals:

  • Erin Howe, Human Resources Generalist (LaSalle County Generating Station)
  • Laura Benes, Senior Recruiter (Exelon Generation)
  • Ryan Phillips, Asso. Professor & Dir. of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Lewis University)
  • Jim Fitzgerald, Director of Intermodal Distribution (TTX Company)
  • Mark Potosnak, Associate Professor of Environmental Science (DePaul University)
  • Roberta Portela, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine & Diplomate (American College of Veterinary Medicine)
